Borders is Going Out of Business

|My local Borders Store|
Borders was a destination for me. It was a place to run my fingers across the spines of unopened, unread books that were looking for a new home. I snacked on delicious cookies and drank countless cups of Seattle's Best at their cafe. Soon it will be just another store I used to go to before it closed for good.
Is there still a place for brick and mortar bookstores in our technology and internet driven culture? I hope so. The day the bookstore dies for good will be a day when part of me dies as well.
Sales of To Kill a Mockingbird Double After Celebrity Birth

David and Victoria Beckham's latest arrival is their first girl, named Harper Beckham. Harper is an old English name and the first name of Victoria's favorite author, Harper E. Lee. Since this little factoid became public, sales of To Kill a Mockingbird, Victoria's favorite book, have skyrocketed.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. A celebrity couple's choice in a name for their baby can influence book sales? It seems crazy, but it's the way it goes with celebrities. At least people are chasing after a classic piece of American literature and not a handbag, right?
